Kabul, Afghanistan — The Honorable Abdul Rawof Ibrahim, Speaker of the National Assembly of Afghanistan, has formally recognized Eng. Sayed Abbas for his outstanding contributions to the Afghan handmade carpet industry. In a special ceremony, Speaker Ibrahim presented an official appreciation letter, praising Eng. Abbas for his dedication, innovation, and impactful initiatives within the sector.

Eng. Sayed Abbas has been widely celebrated for founding the Sheep 2 Shop Institute, the first carpet weaving institute of its kind in Afghanistan. The institute plays a pioneering role in strengthening the entire carpet value chain—from raw wool to finished product—while creating new opportunities for Afghan weavers, especially women and rural artisans.

Highlighting his efforts, Speaker Ibrahim emphasized the importance of advancing Afghan craftsmanship and preserving cultural heritage through modern training and improved production standards. He commended Eng. Abbas for introducing progressive methods and bringing global attention to Afghanistan’s renowned handmade carpets.
